What is Pride
At the Dragon?
Pride at the Dragon is the only LGBTQIA+ event to take place at the Tail of the Dragon (Tennessee and North Carolina) and the Back of the Dragon (Virginia and West Virginia). It is time spent making memories with queer car enthusiasts from all over the world. Yes, WORLD. PATD is an excuse for this robust community to get together in person, many of which connected through the interwebs over the years. Even as we grow and make changes, the essence of Pride at the Dragon remains. There are no parking lot meets here, no “show and shines.” Just bring fresh rubber, some tools, and a couple of friends, and always expect the unexpected.
PATD is woven together, piece by piece, from a love of driving. The specially curated itinerary is created with every kind of guest and all types of drivers in mind. From team-member-led drives, field trips, and even non-auto social events, there’s truly something for everyone.
We have no tolerance for negative attitudes towards people or their cars. We have had station wagons, econoboxes, and clapped out “Is that thing gonna make it?” cars join us at Fontana. It is a true “run what you brung” event. The diversity of people and automobiles alike is what makes PATD so… magical. We’ve seen everything from a Citroën SM to a Geo Metro convertible to a gated Audi R8. No matter what you drive, you’ll find your tribe!
If you do not want to hit twisties with us, you are still in the gorgeous Appalachian Mountains. Chill on the front porch of your cabin, take a dip in the pool or cruise on the Lazy River, or leave the property for all the great attractions the area has to offer. If you want to know what these roads are like with another person at the wheel, there are plenty of friendly people who will give you a ride if you ask.
We welcome all expressions of sexuality, gender, and relationship forms. Leave all the judgment and shade behind, and just come out for fun. While PATD is first and foremost an experience for queer car enthusiasts to experience community as well as feel safe and seen, we also welcome all allies.
At the end of the day, this is about having fun, and no one should be excluded from that! Come experience the magic that is Pride at the Dragon for yourself!
