What is Pride
At the Dragon?
Pride at the Dragon is the only LGBTQIA+ event to take place at the Tail of the Dragon and the Back of the Dragon. It is time spent hanging out, driving amazing roads, eating good or almost good food, playing games, and enjoying social events with queer car enthusiasts from all over the world. PATD is really just an excuse for this robust community to get together in person. Even as we grow and make changes, the essence remains. There are no parking lot meets here, no show and shines, just bring fresh rubber, some tools, and a couple of friends, and expect the unexpected.
PATD comes from a love of driving. The events attempt to curate a thoughtful itinerary throughout the event week for all types of drivers. From team-member-led drives, off-road excursions, relaxed scenic travel, and even non-auto events to take in the beauty of our home away from home, there’s something for everyone.
You can come to our events ready to make lifelong friends. We have no tolerance for negative attitudes towards people or their cars. We have had station wagons, econoboxes, and clapped out “is that thing gonna make it?” cars on this trip with us. It is a true “run what you brung” event.
If you do not want to hit twisties with us, you are still in the gorgeous Appalachian Mountains. Chill on the front porch, at the bar, or leave the property for all the great stuff the area has to offer. If you want to know what these roads are like with another person at the wheel, there are plenty of friendly people who will give you a ride if you ask.
We welcome all expressions of sexuality, gender, and relationship forms. Leave the judgment behind, and just come out for fun. While PATD is first and foremost an experience for queer car enthusiasts to feel safe and seen, we also welcome all allies. At the end of the day, this is about having fun. And no one should be excluded from that! Come, have a great time and we are sure you will come back again and again!
