Safety Guidelines and da Rules
Girls [and gays] just want to have fun*. However, lawyers are expensive, and we don’t enjoy barring people from future events. Because of this, we have highlighted some important points below for your safety and wellbeing.
The Golden Rule is Common Sense!
You will be driving on public roads, so please act accordingly!
Obey Speed Limits - Police officers are rarely kind to speeders.
Braking Zones - Keep a safe distance between you and the vehicle ahead of you. Watch your mirrors for other vehicles. If a faster vehicle comes up behind you, pull over at one of the many paved pull-offs. It is much safer to let a faster vehicle go around than try to outrun them. Do not pull off the road unless it is paved or gravel.
Drive to Your Skill Level - Please remember these are public roads, not a track. We want you to have fun, but this isn’t the time to find your limits as a driver or to find the limits of your car. If you experience anxiousness, pull over on one of the pull-offs. Never go faster than you're comfortable going—your life isn’t worth the risk.
Stay In Your Lane - Vehicles cutting the corners and taking chances to appear “Pro Driver” can cost you dearly—or someone else. This is not a closed race course, enthusiasts and travelers alike utilize Route 129. The point of our drives and Tail Runs are to enjoy the road. If you see another vehicle coming at you in your lane, hug the white line. You can avoid problems if you stay alert and watch ahead. Do not go off the mountain to avoid a crash.
Be Aware of Your Surroundings - Watch the road, your mirrors, and other vehicles at all times. If you want to see the views, pull over at one of the many paved pull-offs or stop at the overlooks and enjoy the scenery. Day or night, always watch for wildlife. The area is full of deer, bear, turkeys, and other animals.
If you see someone driving in a manner you consider unsafe, please let Tatiana or a Gaymmittee member know. If you are found to be driving in an unsafe or dangerous manner, you may be given a warning, disallowed from participating in formal drives, or uninvited from future events.
At the end of the day, we want everyone to have fun, but safety takes priority. Please follow our guidelines, and above all else, follow the Golden Rule!
